What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is one of the most common diseases that require the aid of a Siddha physician in order to treat it. The second one is called azhal keel vayu and it is generally caused by the vitiation of pittham. It is normally correlated with osteoarthritis.

Lyya keel vayu has similar characteristics with tubercular arthritis and gonococcal arthritis is known as iyya vali keel vayu according to Siddha medicine.

Arthritis Diet

Siddha medicine generally recommends the same type of foods that modern medicine does. You should choose foods which are easily digestible such as vegetable juices and soups. Other foods that are very good for treating arthritis include coriander, ginger, asafetida, garlic, fennel and turmeric.

It is recommended that you avoid eating any hot, spicy and fried foods and also sweets or wind forming foods such as cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, okra and potatoes.

Another remedy that you can use in order to help you deal with arthritis pain is ulunthu (black gram). You can grind it into a fine paste in water and apply it on the paining joints in order to relief you from pain.

It is indicated that you lose weight if you are obese or just a bit overweight because it reduces the stress applied to your joints you will become more mobile and active.
